Fix Google Voice not Working
Will my phone ring if someone calls my Google Voice number?
When someone calls your Google Voice number, your phone will ring depending on how you set up your Google Voice account and the settings on your phone.
When you create a Google Voice account, you may select to have calls forwarded to your personal phone number. When someone contacts your Google Voice number while your phone is turned on and connected to a network, your phone will ring.
If you have not configured call forwarding, or if your phone is turned off or out of range, your phone will not ring when someone calls your Google Voice number.
It's also worth mentioning that if you enable call-blocking in your Google Voice settings, calls from specific numbers may be restricted and will not ring through to your phone.
Furthermore, if you have the Google Voice app loaded on your phone, you may setup it to ring when someone contacts your Google Voice number, even if call forwarding is not enabled.
In short, whether or not your phone rings when someone calls your Google Voice number is determined by how you configured your Google Voice account and the settings on your phone. When someone calls your Google Voice number, your phone will ring if you have call forwarding enabled. When someone contacts your Google Voice number and you have not configured call forwarding, or if your phone is turned off or out of range, your phone will not ring.
